Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
