Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could enable the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
