Edwards along with Gary O'Neil are two of the early names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have previous links to the team - are part of the names to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not need to provide any buyout fee.
